How to Make a Round Patio with Pavers
Building a circular patio is a creative method to add decorative and practical outdoor space to any yard. Pavers, provide a strong and long-lasting surface that can be customized to complement the design of the house and backyard. It's not difficult to construct a round patio with pavers if you follow some simple steps.
Planning and Preparation
1. Determine the size and location of the patio. 2. Mark the perimeter of the patio with string or spray paint. 3. Dig out the area within the perimeter to a depth of 4-6 inches. 4. Compact the soil by tamping it down with a hand tamper or plate compactor.
Base Layer
1. Spread a 2-inch layer of gravel over the compacted soil. 2. Compact the gravel with a hand tamper or plate compactor. 3. Add a 1-inch layer of sand over the gravel. 4. Level the sand with a screed or straight edge.
Paver Installation
1. Set the first paver in the center of the patio. 2. Set the remaining pavers around the first paver, working your way outwards in a circular pattern. 3. Use a rubber mallet to tap the pavers into place so that they are level with each other. 4. Fill the joints between the pavers with polymeric sand.
Finishing Touches
1. Sweep the patio clean of any excess polymeric sand. 2. Water the patio to settle the polymeric sand. 3. Seal the patio with a sealant designed for pavers.
